Cocoa

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Lovable Cocoa is a small Staffie Cross and was adopted from Rescue Remedies 4 years ago but, sadly, her owner has passed away and she has returned to the Rescue to look for her forever home. Cocoa was born in January 2019 and has had a tragic life, but both owners loved her greatly and she only lost her home due to health issues. Cocoa is a very lovable and loving, friendly girl who is great with people and a super companion in the home. Cocoa travels well in the car too. She is good on the lead and keeps to a decent pace without pulling. She is a little older and chunkier now, but the same gorgeous companion, full of love and just needs a family to support her out on her walks and give her love. Cocoa is best as an only dog. She can be overwhelmed by other dogs, and in rescue she was muzzle trained so off-lead dogs wouldn't provoke her. Her last owner didn't use a muzzle and managed her. A nice garden for her to enjoy would be ideal. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ If you could offer sweet Cocoa the loving home she seeks, please contact Rescue Remedies as follows: Please read and follow the links in the Rescue Remedies Rehoming process here. Please note that Rescue Remedies has a policy of all adopters committing to keep adopted dogs on the lead at all times when out and about. Please mention that you saw Cocoa on the Oldies Club website.

About Cocoa

What life with Cocoa looks like

Cocoa is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cocoa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cocoa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cocoa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cocoa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cocoa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cocoa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cocoa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
