Adopt Coda

Chihuahua · Male · Adult · 6 years

Coda is a sensitive Chihuahua cross who has a spritely and energetic side once given the chance to come out of his shell. He is currently based at Battersea Old Windsor. Coda can find meeting new people overwhelming, and he may become worried and vocal, particularly around men. With time and patience, Coda has been able to make friends more quickly and once he knows you, his affectionate side shines through and he may even spring onto your lap for some fuss. When out on walks, Coda loves to explore and follow his nose. He would enjoy gentle, sniff filled walks in quieter areas while he’s settling into his new routine. Coda is uncertain around some dogs, especially those that are too playful or bouncy, and can also sometimes have a bark towards dogs when he sees them on walks. He may be able to live with an existing dog in his new home and any dog would need to be a steady friend who is not vocal towards dogs or people, to help Coda continue his training. Coda will need a private garden to help him build his confidence. Having his own safe outdoor area will give him the chance to relax, explore, and settle at his own pace. Coda will truly flourish in a home that can offer him the time, patience and reassurance he needs to grow in confidence. With the right support, his affectionate nature and playful side will begin to show. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Coda you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. We ask every customer to first complete our online rehoming application form, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here;

About Coda

What life with Coda looks like

Coda is a small adult chihuahua dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
