Cody & Rex

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Cody and Rex are two very sweet 7 year old brothers whose owners have had to make this sad decision to find the boys a new home due to their serious ill health. Their owners are heartbroken because they are very much loved, but they know that the boys need far more than they can give them. A wonderful local business owner has helped us with finding out more about these two boys and has helped and supported their owners, she knows the boys and told us how sweet they are. Cody is black and white and Rex is liver and white, they have always been together and have a great bond so we would love to be able to keep them together if possible. Both boys are carrying weight at the moment and will need extra exercise and food management to lose that extra weight. They have both led quite a sheltered life but have been recently walked to their local shops and were both pleased and excited to see people and have attention from strangers. They have also both visited the vets and the vet said that they were really nice, obedient lads. Both boys are neutered and have no known illnesses. They can be left at home for 3-4 hours usually with the radio playing and have been fine, they are curious but not overly bothered when meeting other dogs because they haven’t socialised very much which also means that they haven’t had any bad encounters with strange dogs so they are very trusting. We believe that they will chase cats especially Cody who seems too interested when seeing them. They have also been fine around children that they’ve met, again curious but not showing any behaviours to cause concern. They are both friendly, obedient boys who happily respond to a whistle or their names for recall, they live in a home with plenty of room and a large garden that they love to play together in and sniff around in, they also live opposite a large park which we believe they enjoyed with their owner in healthier times. They both enjoy journeys out in the car and travel well. Cody and Rex are currently in the Oswestry area and will be rehomed with their 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and our Adoption Contract. If you feel that you can offer these two lovely boys a new home please contact us. About Cody & Rex

What life with Cody & Rex looks like

Cody & Rex is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cody & Rex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cody & Rex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cody & Rex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cody & Rex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cody & Rex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cody & Rex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cody & Rex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
