Colby - He couldn't defend himself. These images hurt us so terribly. Not just because of the open wounds on his head. But because you know what lies behind them. Colby is only 3 years old, about 45 cm tall and lives in the extremely overcrowded municipal animal shelter in Botoșani, Romania. Over 800 dogs fight for survival every day there. Close quarters, heat, stress and hopelessness determine their daily routine. Colby is one of the peaceful ones. A dear, gentle dog who doesn't seek trouble. But it's exactly these dogs that are lost in such an environment. They can't assert themselves. They hardly fight back. And so they are repeatedly victims of stronger dogs. His injuries are the result of this daily struggle for survival. Fortunately, Colby was discovered just in time. He is now on the hospital ward and being treated. But this security is only borrowed. Because even the hospital ward is hopelessly overcrowded. As soon as his wounds heal, there will be no place left for him. There is no other accommodation. No alternative. No safe enclosure. He must return. Back to a kennel. Back to hell, from which he was just pulled out. And that's exactly what we fear. Maybe he survives it a second time. Maybe not. We don't want to have to watch helplessly as Colby is sent back into a situation where the weak lose every day. We really want his story to take a turn here. That instead he can travel to a home. Or at least to a foster home, where he can finally come to rest. Where no one attacks him. Where he may experience that people not only provide for but also love. Please don't look away. Please help us so that Colby never has to go back into this kennel again. Colby is spayed/neutered, multiple vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and of course in possession of an EU passport when he leaves. COLBY – Er konnte sich nicht wehren Dieser Bilder tun uns so entsetzlich weh. Nicht nur wegen der offenen Wunden an seinem Kopf. Sondern weil man weiß, was hinter ihnen steckt. Colby ist erst 3 Jahre alt, etwa 45 cm groß und lebt im völlig überfüllten städtischen Tierheim von Botoșani in Rumänien. Dort kämpfen über 800 Hunde jeden Tag ums Überleben. Enge, Hitze, Stress und Hoffnungslosigkeit bestimmen ihren Alltag. Colby ist einer von den Friedlichen. Ein lieber, friedlicher Hund, der keinen Streit sucht. Doch genau diese Hunde sind es, die in einem solchen Umfeld untergehen. Sie können sich nicht behaupten. Sie wehren sich kaum. Und so werden sie immer wieder Opfer der stärkeren Hunde. Seine Verletzungen sind das Ergebnis dieses täglichen Überlebenskampfes. Zum Glück wurde Colby noch rechtzeitig entdeckt. Er ist jetzt auf der Krankenstation und wird behandelt. Doch diese Sicherheit ist nur geliehen. Denn auch die Krankenstation ist hoffnungslos überfüllt. Sobald seine Wunden verheilt sind, gibt es keinen Platz mehr für ihn. Es gibt keine andere Unterbringung. Keine Ausweichmöglichkeit. Kein sicheres Gehege. Er muss zurück. Zurück in einen Zwinger. Zurück in die Hölle, aus der er gerade erst herausgeholt wurde. Und genau davor haben wir Angst. Vielleicht überlebt er es ein zweites Mal. Vielleicht aber auch nicht. Wir möchten nicht tatenlos zusehen müssen, wie Colby wieder in eine Situation geschickt wird, in der die Schwachen jeden Tag verlieren. Wir möchten so so sehr, dass seine Geschichte hier eine Wendung nimmt. Dass er stattdessen in ein Zuhause reisen darf. Oder wenigstens auf eine Pflegestelle, wo er endlich zur Ruhe kommen kann. Wo niemand ihn angreift. Wo er erfahren darf, dass Menschen nicht nur versorgen, sondern auch lieben. Bitte schaut nicht weg. Bitte helft uns, dass Colby nie wieder in diesen Zwinger zurück muss.
