Colin

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Colin has found his home! His story: The fluffy puppy Colin was found alone and stray on the street with his brother Captain. Unfortunately, we do not know where he came from or what he has already experienced. However, we can say with certainty that Colin is an extremely playful and loving dog who is very happy about playtime and human interaction. Colin is charming with his beautiful, white, and soft fluff coat and his lively nature. Unlike his brother Captain, Colin is a bit more lively and wants to play a lot. At his current age of 8 months, Colin already has a considerable size of about 60 cm and his appearance suggests that Colin might be a mix of a herding dog. Colin may also exhibit working dog traits. Herding dogs are confident, enduring, and obedient dogs who like to be active. Therefore, Colin's future owners should already be familiar with the characteristics of this breed or ideally have experience with herding dog care. We are looking for responsible and dog-experienced adopters for Colin who will give him the time to settle into his new family at his own pace. He would like to live in a family that lives as close to the countryside as possible, ideally with a large garden where Colin can move freely. Colin travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. An experienced foster home would also be a wonderful opportunity for Colin to get a warm spot and come a little closer to his family. We would like to thank the namingsponsor Silvie S., who gave Colin a name and thus a personal identity. As of: 12.10. This is a young, adolescent dog.

Stand: 12.10.2024

About Colin

What life with Colin looks like

Colin is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Colin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Colin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Colin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Colin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Colin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Colin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Colin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
