Connie

Mixed Breed · Female

Due to the ongoing investigation, we are looking for a temporary home for her. Temperament: Connie is a young female terrier. She was taken in along with other dogs. An investigation is currently underway. When she arrived at the animal shelter, she was afraid of both the surrounding world and people. However, it was enough to show her some patience and of course share some food, and Connie began to open up beautifully. She now goes on walks with trusted people, where she eagerly explores. When the surroundings become overwhelming, she comes to the caregiver for support. This is a significant progress, considering that she is the type of dog that acts first and thinks later. Sometimes this leads to quickly overcoming medications, but it can also be the cause of sudden bursts of running away from a suspicious noise. Over time, she has become quite the cuddler who isn't shy about sitting on a person's lap. She likes to walk by the leg in unfamiliar places, but unfortunately, she sometimes also walks under the legs, so it's good to have eyes all around your head when dealing with this one. Currently, street traffic stresses her even from a distance. Entering buildings was still difficult for her not long ago, but once she overcame it, she found that relaxing on the couch with her caregiver isn't actually that scary (she can even fall asleep with her head on the person's lap). Despite the difficulties, Connie bravely overcomes her fears. Her huge appetite helps her - the girl is capable of doing a lot for wet food. However, one must be careful with this, because she is also not shy about stealing, and she is born a thief. She has often deprived other dogs of chew toys, taking advantage of the caregiver's momentary inattention, and she can also rob the caregiver of treats. We are looking for a patient, understanding temporary home ready to work with a fearful dog, located in a quiet area.

Usposobienie: Connie to młoda sunia w typie terriera.

About Connie

What life with Connie looks like

Connie is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Connie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Connie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Connie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Connie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Connie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Connie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Connie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
