Connie

Mixed Breed · Female

Connie came to us from the "garden area" of Moňov potok. When found, she had fleas and ticks and it was obvious that she had lived in very inappropriate conditions. At first, she was very scared and closed off. She needed time, a calm approach, and lots of treats to allow someone to get close to her and build her trust. This fear was a result of her past, not her personality. However, once Connie realizes she is safe, she becomes an extremely affectionate and loyal female dog. To the person she trusts, she becomes strongly attached and really enjoys their presence - she is always by their side and seeks contact. She now walks well on a leash, although in a new environment or when exposed to unexpected stimuli, she can still be cautious and react with fear briefly. She has good hygiene habits with regular walks, behaves politely inside and does not destroy things, provided she has enough exercise and attention. She gets along well with other dogs, likes to play and chase them. She chooses female dog according to her sympathies. Connie is looking for a home with people who have experience with more shy dogs or are willing to give her time, patience, and gradually build a relationship with her. She is suitable for an apartment or a house with full access to the yard, where she will have security, stability, and the closeness of a person she needs so much.

SK·Show original

Potrebovala čas, pokojný prístup a veľa pamlskov, aby si k nej človek našiel cestu a vybudoval si jej dôveru. So psami vychádza bez problémov, rada sa s nimi hrá a naháňa.

About Connie

What life with Connie looks like

Connie is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at ÚVP Košice in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Connie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Connie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ÚVP Košice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Connie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Connie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ÚVP Košice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Connie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Connie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ÚVP Košice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Connie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
