Adopt Contessa

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 6 years

These cats are looking for a home. The tabby cat is Contessa, she is about four years old (she is an abandoned stray). She has a calm character, is very affectionate, and only comes out in spring and summer. The black kitten is named Atena, she is about two years old. She has a very short tail and is a small cat, with shiny fur and a lively character. She likes to come in and out of the house and sometimes when the dog goes out, she goes out with him for a walk. The reddish cat is named Jarl, he is young, also an abandoned stray. He is very affectionate, peaceful and homebound. He loves scratching posts and all the highest points of the house. The white and gray cat with blue eyes is named Lord, nicknamed "Obi", he is very sweet, fearless and loves being outdoors, he is almost always in the garden sunbathing or hunting lizards, I think he is about 6 years old. They are located in Crema, they are all spayed/neutered. Info:

About Contessa

What life with Contessa looks like

Contessa is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at A Rischio Gatti ODV in Sicilia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Contessa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Contessa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A Rischio Gatti ODV handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Contessa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Contessa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A Rischio Gatti ODV will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Contessa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Contessa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A Rischio Gatti ODV early rather than rehoming privately; they know Contessa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
