Adopt Cooper

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Cooper is a friendly and trusting charm girl with a beautiful sparkle in her eyes. He is a curious and alert lad who loves to go for walks and is skilled at walking on a leash. Discovering and following new scents is exciting and a favorite pastime. Cooper is very trusting of his caretakers and welcomes new acquaintances as long as they show respect by not pushing in – he decides when he is ready to open his heart. Cooper has a congenital minor deformity on his hind legs which makes him walk a little differently – but it doesn’t noticeably affect his daily life. Cooper grew up with his siblings and today shares “accommodation” with his brother Buddy. He has also met other dogs and built fine relationships. He chooses to socialize with those who are friendly, calm, and safe. Dogs that are excitable and very playful are not his favorites – life should be a little calmer. Cooper is very balanced and communicates well with his companions. He has also met some of the shelter’s cats and shown a positive attitude. For our ruffled Cooper, we are now seeking an eternal home where he can continue his fine development and become a confident and family-loving best friend. The home should be in a quiet location and in close proximity to fine countryside areas. If there are children, they should be in school age. Cooper can live as a single dog but can also happily share his home with a calm and stable canine companion, preferably an older dog – and then he gets a mentor for all the new things in life. He can also live with a dog-friendly cat given a gradual introduction. Keep in mind that Cooper has no exposure to the outside world. He therefore must never be pressured where he feels insecure – among new people and in new environments. Background – again, a cardboard box outside the fence in the morning. The question is always just – cats or dogs? Staff arrived quickly and found four very young pairs, 5-6 weeks old, who were bewilderedly looking up. They had been dumped by someone who didn’t want to know about them overnight.

Småttingarna skulle for

About Cooper

What life with Cooper looks like

Cooper is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundhjälpen in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cooper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cooper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundhjälpen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cooper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cooper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundhjälpen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cooper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cooper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundhjälpen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cooper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
