Cooper

Mixed Breed · Male

Cooper, male dog, born in September 2021, Cooper has already been through several stages in his young life. We know this from his foster home, which rehomed him to a young man whom we already had some dogs from at our animal shelter. He or someone else then tied him up in an apartment building in Pirmasens and left him alone. Cooper is such a wonderful, clever dog. We simply do not understand why no one has shown any interest in the handsome fellow. Cooper bonds quickly with his people, is cooperative, and wants to learn. He responds well to being led and enjoys exploring new things with his person. There’s a herder in him, so he definitely needs more than just a walk around the block. Cooper is smart and wants to please. Dog sports would certainly be something he would enjoy. In dealing with other dogs, he is not very experienced, but so far has always been fair with us. Cooper is not a dog for completely inexperienced owners. He is, however, not a particularly difficult dog. He needs clear, calm people and must learn to handle new situations, take responsibility, and build trust. With the right people and good guidance, he will surely become a very loyal companion to his people. Cooper would be best suited in a quieter, dog-experienced household. Children should already be in their teenage years. We would test the compatibility with other animals on a case-by-case basis. Those who would like to meet our Cooper are welcome to arrange an initial meet-and-greet. animal shelter Pirmasens -26 { margin: auto; } -26 img { border: 2px solid; }

Hundesport wäre sicher etwas, was ihm Spaß macht. About Cooper

What life with Cooper looks like

Cooper is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Pirmasens in Pirmasens.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cooper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cooper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Pirmasens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cooper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cooper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Pirmasens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cooper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cooper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Pirmasens early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cooper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
