Adopt Coquito

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

About 8 years old (born around 20.03.2018), 34 cm, 5.65 kg, male, neutered Leishmaniosetest negative on 17.04.2026, will be retested before travel arrangements at the animal shelter in Spain Coquito – a small dog with a big personality Coquito is a small dog with a big personality. Charismatic, playful, and full of energy, he knows exactly how to win hearts. Toward people, he shows clingy and friendly behavior, and he also gets along well with other dogs. He loves company and is always in the middle of the action – very typical for a small Pomeranian with a lot of character. Coquito walks well on a leash and enjoys his walks. At the same time, he is also a dog who clearly communicates when something is not to his liking. Sometimes he may not like being leashed and shows his displeasure by growling or snapping in the air. However, he has never bitten anyone – he simply wants to make it clear that he is currently upset. Raising his leg is not one of his favorite activities either. Despite his small temperament, Coquito also shows that he can be very cooperative in the right situations: For example, he behaved very well at the vet. This shows that with calmness, understanding, and the right handling, a lot can be achieved with him. Therefore, we are looking for people with dog experience who not only find small dogs with character "cute" but also take them seriously. People who respect his signals, give him security, and can lead him with love but also clarity. In the right hands, Coquito is a wonderful companion: cheerful, social, cuddly, and full of charm. We know nothing about his past. He came to the Perrera (the official animal shelter), where Maria, the head of our partner shelter, was asked if she could take him in. Since then, Coquito has been waiting for a home where he will be understood and loved just as he is. His future home Coquito does not see a home with small children. He needs people who respect his boundaries and give him the peace and stability that benefit him. Anyone who wants to give a dog with character a chance gets a loyal and lovable little companion with Coquito.

Video Mai 26

About Coquito

What life with Coquito looks like

Coquito is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coquito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coquito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coquito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coquito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coquito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coquito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coquito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
