Cora

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 9 years

Cora, a 9-year-old friendly and people-oriented female dog, was taken to the shelter due to a government inspection. She has had a tough life and is now looking for a loving home where she can spend her golden years in comfort. Cora enjoys the company of her humans and is good with other dogs, but her compatibility with cats is yet to be tested. She has hip dysplasia, which makes her less physically resilient, and is currently recovering from an operation. Cora is being closely monitored and cared for by the shelter staff. Despite her health issues, she remains cheerful and enjoys spending time with people. She is looking for a quiet and relaxed home with loving care, comfortable hours, and lots of affection. Cora would appreciate people who are willing to accommodate her health needs. A quiet, single-story home would be ideal for her. If you would like to show her that a home of her own can still be wonderful, despite her limitations, we would be delighted to arrange a meeting. Would you like to give Cora a loving home?

Deine Cora!

About Cora

What life with Cora looks like

Cora is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
