Red Rabbit

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Hello, I’m Red Rabbit! I was found severely injured on the street and brought to the animal shelter. Thanks to the loving care and medical attention I received, I’ve made a full recovery and am now ready to find my forever home. I’m an exceptionally sweet cat who thoroughly enjoys being close to his people. At first, I’m a bit reserved around strangers, but once I’ve built trust, I reveal my cuddly and affectionate side. I could enjoy petting sessions for hours on end! With other cats, I get along well—depending on how much we like each other. At the shelter, I’ve made a great friend in Mr. Rapunzel and love spending time with him. Unfortunately, after my accident, I had to have my left front leg amputated. But that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying life again—I’m doing just fine on my three legs. For my new home, I’d love to find caring people who have plenty of time for me and can offer me a sense of security. Since I’m safer indoors due to my amputation, I’m looking for a home where I’ll live exclusively indoors. It would be especially wonderful if there’s already a friendly, well-socialized cat waiting for me—or if I could move in together with a feline friend from the shelter. If you’d like to get to know me better, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the animal shelter. I can’t wait to win your heart! Your Red Rabbit

Dein Red Rabbit

About Red Rabbit

What life with Red Rabbit looks like

Red Rabbit is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Red Rabbit, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Red Rabbit?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Red Rabbit on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Red Rabbit if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Red Rabbit already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Red Rabbit isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Red Rabbit and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
