Corella

Mixed Breed · Female

Corella no longer understands the world. The friendly, very active female dog had to leave her home, even though she is an ideal companion for extended adventures. Her shiny, short brown fur makes Cora, as she is called, a low-maintenance roommate, from whom collected dirt simply falls off. Daily vacuuming or intensive fur care are not necessary. The sometimes sensitive female dog is very approachable and unproblematic with people, whether adults or schoolchildren. Whomever she shows her entire affection to, that or the lucky one can then look forward to a very attentive animal, whose engagement seems ideally suited for scent work or even mantrailing. The wiggly four-legged friend, when active, learns tricks with ease, loves its toys, and surprises with witty ideas. While the hunting drive is not to be denied in an old standing-hound breed, it is not strongly developed in Corella. She was not trained for hunting, and this should remain so. Nevertheless, she can be easily distracted by many natural temptations and can also be a bit stubborn. With a bit of persuasion, and an experienced handler, the learned basic commands can be expanded, and the already good recall can be strengthened. Corella can stay alone and behaves absolutely calmly, even during long car rides, which she simply falls asleep through. We assess her compatibility with others with cats in the household rather critically. When meeting other dogs outside, she is rather reserved and cannot be provoked. Whoever Corella wants to give her attention, which she deserves after this bitter disappointment and has experience in handling an active dog, is invited to contact us. A reliable and willing companion with whom you can go through "fat and thin" for years will be your reward.

DE·Show original

About Corella

What life with Corella looks like

Corella is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Franken e.V. in Lauf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Corella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Corella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Franken e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Corella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Corella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Franken e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Corella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Corella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Franken e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Corella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
