Adopt Corito peral

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

11 March 2026 Educator Report: Corito has had a very difficult life. He was raised in a family but was left to his own devices on a farm where he had to learn to survive in a very hostile environment. This caused him severe traumas, so he had to be treated to build trust with other dogs and learn that he would never again need to fight for resources. Corito stands out for his calmness; he spends hours lying in the sun without bothering his neighbors, and it's clear that he was his only source of warmth for many years. He doesn't show anxiety, doesn't destroy things, respects his bed, is clean, noble, gregarious, very affectionate, and sociable with people. He walks very well on a leash. He has been trained to come when called and never to stray, even in the presence of stimuli like rabbits, dogs, etc. He can coexist with other dogs that are not hyperactive and respect his calmness. Corito is a friendly and sociable dog. He enjoys human contact and likes to be petted, especially on his head. When it's time to put on his harness for a walk, he sits and waits patiently, though it's clear he doesn't particularly enjoy the handling. During the walk, he wants to greet everyone, whether human or dog, so he pulls a bit on the leash. He has lived with both males and females. At the animal shelter and in a kennel enclosure, he is very stressed, always clinging to the door, waiting to be taken out. We have observed that in some situations, he is an insecure dog that can be difficult to read and requires experienced handling, especially in the home. If his discomfort is not detected, misunderstandings can occur, and he may react in an undesirable way. Therefore, we would like to find a calm family for Corito so he can have a relaxed life, preferably without children and in a house with a garden so he has plenty of space to move around. It is essential to have experience with large dogs and be willing to work with an educator, especially regarding resource and space protection, through positive reinforcement and gentle education. Corito came from a farm in Ávila where he lived with other dogs but had little human contact. The owners sold the farm, and several animal rescue associations picked up the dogs that were left on the street. ALBA took Corito in. Corito is vaccinated, neutered, and his Leishmania analysis came back negative. This animal is not suitable for homes with children. Note: this animal shows resource guarding.

About Corito peral

What life with Corito peral looks like

Corito peral is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at ALBA Protectora Madrid in Madrid.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Corito peral, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Corito peral?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ALBA Protectora Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Corito peral on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Corito peral if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ALBA Protectora Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Corito peral already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Corito peral isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ALBA Protectora Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Corito peral and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
