Cowboy

Border Collie Β· Male Β· Puppy Β· 9 months

Cowboy is a big sweetheart, looking for a family who enjoys adventures but can also help with confidence building when he is feeling a little overwhelmed. If not had the breed before, new owners may benefit from doing their breed research. He will make an amazing addition to his family Cowboy is a wonderful young lad who is oodles of fun! As he is still a young boy, he still has lots of things to learn and may keep his new family busy. Cowboy has come in with little information and may need training in all areas including house training and time left alone will need to be built up gradually- leaving him with plenty to do to keep him busy. Cowboy loves his treats (especially investigating lots of enrichment) and playing with soft toys- which will make any further training lots of fun. He can sometimes find new things a little worrying at times, so may need time to settle in and find his paws- and his family may need to go at his pace so that new things can become a positive experience. Cowboy enjoys the company of other dogs and could live with another dog in his new home after a successful meet at the centre. He could live with older and sensible children who are comfortable with lively breeds but also be understanding of his worries.

About Cowboy

What life with Cowboy looks like

Cowboy is a large puppy border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cowboy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cowboy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cowboy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cowboy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Cowboy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cowboy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cowboy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
