Crystal

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Crystal (born 06/2025) has made wonderful progress during her first weeks in foster care. Since early October, this little female dog (7 kg) has grown a bit more confident and willing to try new things each day. Crystal's favorite activities are sleeping, playing, good food and, of course, plenty of cuddles. She is a lovable, gentle dog who loves being with her people, relaxing on the sofa or occasionally grabbing her ball. She is affectionate, people-oriented and pleasantly unobtrusive. Once she has gained trust, she shows her cuddly and sometimes goofy, comical side. Indoors and in the garden she now moves about confidently, lets her harness be put on without any problem and already walks very nicely on the leash. She greets strangers in a friendly way, and there were no problems with the foster family's 5-year-old granddaughter either. Of course, it is always important that the dog is shown appropriate respect. Crystal is a sensitive and insecure dog who still needs support in new situations. While she becomes increasingly relaxed in familiar surroundings, outdoors she can be overwhelmed by heavy traffic, trams and trains, and larger crowds. In such moments she sometimes freezes, but by now she can be guided out of the situation well. With calm, patience and understanding companionship, she will become a little braver step by step. For Crystal we therefore wish for a quiet, rather rural home, preferably with a garden. She does not want to be constantly confronted with new impressions; she prefers to explore the world at her own pace. A home as an only dog would be ideal, since she is still unsure outdoors around the scents of other dogs. Whether she is compatible with cats is not yet known. Crystal also brings a good deal with her in everyday life: she can already stay alone for about four and a half hours and is mostly house-trained indoors. Occasionally a small accident still happens on the puppy pad. Crystal needs people who understand her sensitive nature, give her a sense of security and rejoice with her over every small step forward. Whoever gives her time and does not overwhelm her will see how she gains more and more trust and shows her cheerful, playful side. If you think Crystal could be a good match for you, please write to us with a description of yourself and your living situation, and perhaps you can meet soon for a getting-to-know-you walk. Crystal is looking forward to meeting you! Crystal is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive preliminary check. Wearing a safety harness is required when collecting the dog. Such a harness (3-strap safety harness) can be purchased for only 25 €.

Crystal (geb.

About Crystal

What life with Crystal looks like

Crystal is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Crystal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Crystal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Crystal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Crystal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Crystal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Crystal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Crystal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
