Adopt Cully

Mixed Breed Cat · Female

Cully. Breed: HSH-DSH-Mix. Gender: female. Age: born 2020. Living conditions: not specified. Identification: Cully Cully is a classic livestock guardian dog mixed breed with all the typical characteristics of her breed. She loves and is very affectionate with her own family. However, she drives away strangers and may use her teeth to do so. When we have visitors, she wears a muzzle, and we trust her to decide who can come in and who cannot. However, she does need clear instructions that she is not in charge. With other dogs she knows, she is social and enjoys playing. She knows horses and ignores them. She likes to chase anything that catches her eye. For example, when chasing butterflies and birds, she can completely forget about everything around her unless stopped. Generally, Cully accepts leadership and boundaries but requires more specific guidance and needs people with dog experience. She can open doors, and fences up to 1.30 meters are no obstacle for her. If she feels she is not being properly led, she tends to engage in substitute behaviors in the house, such as chasing shadows or light reflections. She loves children and seeks their company. She now wears the muzzle without any problems and is house-trained. Outdoors, she is now well-recallable on a long leash, and her leash behavior is already very good. If she feels she is not being properly led, she will bark at cyclists, pedestrians, etc., outdoors. With secure handling, these distractions are ignored. She also shows herself to be safe and comfortable during car rides and in the city, accompanying you everywhere. She is looking for people who have a securely fenced property, are aware of the characteristics of a livestock guardian dog, and are willing to take on the challenge of providing her with proper care. With this, Cully can be a pleasant and calm family member. Emergency animal: No. Found animal: No. Mediated by: our shelter

Cully. Rasse: HSH-DSH-Mix. Geschlecht: weiblichAlter: geb. About Cully

What life with Cully looks like

Cully is a adult mixed breed cat dog waiting at Tierheim Geldern in Geldern.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cully, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cully?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Geldern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cully on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cully if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Geldern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cully already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cully isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Geldern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cully and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
