Cupid

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Say hello to Cupid! Cupid is a 1 year old, 12hh, piebald, Cob, gelding who is ready to find his home as a non-ridden companion. Cupid is looking for his new home to be with someone who understands he is still learning as he is still a young lad. He loves to try new things and enjoys in hand walks, he will happily stand for a god groom and loves a scratch! He would benefit from having a consistent routine and time to get to know his new home and fosterer. Cupid is a super sweet boy who always tries his best, he is still young and is still learning, the more he does the more confident he becomes and he always puts in 110% effort when learning new skills. Stabling/Shelter Companionship Forage & Feed Feet & Teeth Vices Vet & Medication Stabling/Shelter: Cupid currently lives out 24/7 with access to a field shelter, he will stable with others nearby as he can become unsettled in a stable with no friend around, this is getting better he is just still learning due to his young age. Companionship: Cupid currently lives with two other geldings of a similar height and age, he sits in the bottom – middle of the herd hierarchy, he makes friends with everyone and fits in well into most herds. He has never lived with mares but has lived next to them happily. He likes to always have a friend with him as he becomes unsettled if left alone in the field. Forage/Feed: Currently on restricted grazing with some forage daily to share with his field companions, he is on stud lite and linseed AM only for his weight and growth. Farrier: Cupid is barefoot and has a trim every 6weeks. Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure. Vices: N/A. About Cupid

What life with Cupid looks like

Cupid is a young adult mixed breed horse waiting at Bransby Horses Rescue & Welfare in Lincoln.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cupid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cupid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bransby Horses Rescue & Welfare handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cupid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cupid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bransby Horses Rescue & Welfare will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cupid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most horses on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cupid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bransby Horses Rescue & Welfare early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cupid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
