Czekaj

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

29.07.2026 Czekaj arrived at our shelter. Residents of the Ropczyce housing estate have long called him by this name, and we will keep it. Ropczyce Around 8 years old 11.5 kg This is an extremely intelligent, alert, and independent dog. In the past, he managed to escape from several enclosures, but each time he found a way to regain his freedom. He was suspicious, cunning, and always one step ahead of humans. After several unsuccessful attempts to capture him, at the request of the residents, we gave him peace. We then decided that his need for freedom had won. However, this did not mean leaving him to his own devices. Czekaj was regularly fed by the residents of the estate. He also got a doghouse, but he never dared to enter it. Unfortunately, in recent times he has been chasing cyclists. Interestingly, he left "his" ones alone, and he was mainly interested in those from outside the estate. Despite everything, the situation began to pose a real threat, and we could no longer hesitate to react. We had to bring out the big guns against such a demanding opponent. A blowgun with a sedative, a drone, and even an electric scooter After a long and exhausting chase, it was possible to catch the dog, who had long been considered elusive. Today, Czekaj is safe and is in the shelter, in a heavily guarded enclosure. This is not a dog that will fit in a regular, unprotected yard, because he would probably quickly find his way to freedom. He also has a long way to go to trust a human. For now, he is practically untouchable, although he is not aggressive by himself, and learning to walk on a leash and socialization will require a lot of time, patience, and work. Keep your fingers crossed for Czekaj. We hope that he will one day convince himself that life alongside humans can also be good. If anyone would like to contribute their own brick and help in the care of Czekaj and our other wards, you can make a donation with BLIK to the number: 667 506 506 Thank you for every support. Ropczyce Około 8 lat 11,5 kgTo niezwykle inteligentny, czujny i niezależny pies. Nie oznaczało to jednak pozostawienia go samemu sobie. Co ciekawe, tych „swoich” zostawiał w spokoju, a interesowali go głównie ci spoza osiedla. About Czekaj

What life with Czekaj looks like

Czekaj is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Przytul Psiaka in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Czekaj, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Czekaj?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Przytul Psiaka handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Czekaj on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Czekaj if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Przytul Psiaka will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Czekaj already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Czekaj isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Przytul Psiaka early rather than rehoming privately; they know Czekaj and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
