Czyli

Male · Adult · 6 years

Czyli, as soon as he arrived at the animal shelter, immediately showed us his wonderful character and potential. At first, he was afraid of raised hands and sudden movements, probably touch did not associate with anything good. Nevertheless, from the beginning, there is no aggression in him, he lets us do everything, we can wash him, brush him, flush his eyes, take him to a veterinary visit, and he calmly waits until we finish, as if he understood that we are doing it for his good. He quickly let us convince him that touch can be good, and once he understood, he started entering under our hands and rubbing against our legs. He has a great love for people, although he probably never experienced it before. We suspect he lived on a chain, when he arrived at the animal shelter, his fur and skin on the neck had typical signs of this. Everything that lies on the ground he takes to his kennel, as if he wants to leave it "for later". He didn't know a leash, he walked by our side, and when he dared to run a few meters and the leash ended, he got scared and stopped, changing direction. However, he quickly realized that walking on a leash is enjoyable, and unlike a chain, the leash moves with him, and at its end is a person, now walks are his favorite activity. He confidently walks ahead, occasionally stopping to sniff and play with a volunteer. At first, he couldn't take treats from the hand, he waited until they were thrown on the ground. However, Czyli is extremely smart and learned this very quickly. In his eyes, there is pain, but also hope, he is a wonderful and intelligent dog who dreams of finally becoming part of a family and no longer having to worry about anything. Dogs passed on the walk he ignores, with some he wants to greet, he is positively oriented, and he makes dog acquaintances with full culture, so after initial introduction could live with another dog who would teach him home life.

About Czyli

What life with Czyli looks like

Czyli is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: History of chaining trauma, needs patience with trust building

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Czyli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Czyli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Czyli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Czyli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Czyli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Czyli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Czyli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
