Dado

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

September 9, 2025: A team colleague and her daughter sacrificed part of their vacation time to personally meet—or revisit—some of the animals in our care. During this visit, they also met Deo and Dado. In their young lives, unfortunately, Deo and Dado haven't had much opportunity to experience the world yet. We sincerely hope that soon they’ll be able to travel and find empathetic people who will give them the time and security they need and allow them to settle at their own pace. Would you like to give Deo or Dado this chance?August 6, 2026: Once upon a time, there were eight siblings. Six of them have already been adopted into loving families in Germany and have found their own homes. Left behind are the two brothers, Deo and Dado—and that breaks our hearts. Although Deo and Dado live in a relatively large enclosure, it can never replace a real home. Each day is just like the one before. They wait without their own family, without regular human attention, without the security and variety that a loving home can provide. Day after day, precious time in their lives slips away. Both brothers are rather reserved and initially observe new situations calmly. They need people who give them time to build trust and don’t pressure them. Once you’ve understood their gentle nature, you’ll recognize two wonderful dogs who long for nothing more than finally feeling at home. We so desperately hope that the day will come when Deo and Dado, too, can leave the kennel behind—the day when they’ll discover what it feels like to be loved, to sleep on a soft bed, and to finally become part of a family. Perhaps you’re exactly the person one of these two brothers has been waiting for all along? If you’re currently looking for a new furry family member and you’re aware that adoption not only brings great joy but also comes with great responsibility, we’d love to hear from you. We arrange adoptions nationwide.Your contact person for this...

About Dado

What life with Dado looks like

Dado is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dado, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dado?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dado on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dado if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dado already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dado isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dado and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
