Adopt Dai

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Dai can stay forever in its foster home! 58840 Plettenberg. Dai can travel to its foster home in early February! His story: Fantanele, Romania. All fresh – how much we wished for this: Because Dai already had an owner and a home. But unfortunately, neither deserved the name. He experienced 9 years of being chained and living under inhumane conditions. So unbearable that he managed to escape in the fall, even with an infected neck wound. Even the shelter where we found him with the infected neck wound seemed like a safe haven. And so we took him in, cared for him, and have been delighted by his heartwarming warmth and gentle joy every day. The brave fighter. Dai is 50 cm tall, weighs 20 kg, and loves cuddling just as much as all the play variations. With other dogs, especially with people, he enjoys every bit of attention and seeks trusting closeness wherever possible. We, who have seen Dai in its most difficult moments, are even more impressed by this trusting openness and are now looking for a home that does him justice. A home where he can discover the beautiful sides of life, where retreat areas are lovingly designed, and where he is irreplaceable as a family member and friend. Guard or kitchen protection genes cannot be ruled out for Dai. Dai has never known house training or homey conditions and will never have walked on a leash. Therefore, in addition to clear rules and safety, it needs a lot of patience, calmness, and also understanding for the occasional learning curve. A visit to dog training classes can be wonderfully supportive and provide a stable foundation for the shared journey. Our Dai is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has an EU pet passport and can be placed in a home after a positive assessment. Also, a foster home would be a crucial first step in a happy future for Dai. Has Dai touched your heart? Then we look forward to your inquiry. Many thanks, Moni and Carmen! You have given Dai as a gift on your birthday!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Dai darf für immer in seiner Pflegestelle bleiben! 58840 Plettenberg.

About Dai

What life with Dai looks like

Dai is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dai, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dai?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dai on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dai if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dai already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dai isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dai and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
