Adopt Wally

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Wally has found her people! Her story: Fantanele, Romania. The little enchanting Wally is on the lookout for a family. With her fluffy white fur, she reminds a bit of a small polar bear. Unlike her sister Henna, she is a bit shy and reserved. The animal welfare workers on site suspect that she doesn't handle the noise in the kennels very well. That's why she wishes for a home quickly. Wally was found together with her siblings Henna, Flocke, and Raffaelo, as well as their mother Floriana, in the mountains near a restaurant. There, the mother was fed by an old lady. Then, during Christmas, her puppies were born. Although Wally is a bit shy, she likes to be fed and can already pose for photos. She currently weighs 5 kg. She is expected to grow to be medium to large when fully grown. Wally is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of her and will show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a mishap shouldn't be held against her, and Wally should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with beautiful nature walks, lots of snuggling hours, and also a visit to the puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently but lovingly. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Judging by the mother's appearance, it cannot be ruled out that Wally also has herding dog genes. Therefore, one should also be prepared to deal with their characteristics and provide Wally with the appropriate environment. Once Wally is old enough and has all her vaccinations, she can embark on her great journey to happiness. Of course, she will then also be dewormed, treated for fleas, and microchipped. And the EU pet passport will also be in her luggage. Even though she would like to move directly into her forever home, she is also looking forward to a foster home. Many thanks, Christine P.! You gave the pretty Wally her name and thus her identity.

About Wally

What life with Wally looks like

Wally is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wally, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wally?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wally on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wally if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wally already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wally isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wally and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
