** Please note the ‘Contact for Availability’ function is currently not working. Please email the Rescue direct () if you are enquiring about an animal and include the animal’s name ** Daisy and Luna are still searching for their forever home together. As mother and daughter, they share an incredibly close bond and cannot be separated. Sadly, they have had very little interest as a pair. We understand that Daisy’s heart diagnosis may be worrying for potential adopters due to concerns about future veterinary costs. Because of this, we have decided to look for a long-term foster home for Daisy, where all of her medication and any current or future veterinary expenses will be fully covered by the Rescue. Luna is fit and healthy and has passed all of her veterinary checks, so she will need to be formally adopted, but they must remain together as a pair. Could you open your heart and home to this adorable duo? Daisy and Luna are an adorable bonded mother-and-daughter pair searching for a very special family who can offer them a loving home together. Daisy is 12 years old and Luna is 10 years old. Despite their ages, both girls are still active and really enjoy their walks. They walk nicely on lead and are social with other dogs, although Luna can sometimes be a little yappy when meeting certain dogs and likes to he bossy. These two are incredibly sweet, affectionate girls who absolutely love being with their people. Luna especially adores curling up on your lap for cuddles but she is very nervous of new people and is a dog who needs to be ignored until she feels comfortable with you. Daisy is the more confident of the pair and will happily greet people straight away. Luna can be nervous around new people and may bark at first, but once she feels safe and comfortable, she will come over for affection in her own time. She simply does not like being rushed by strangers. Both girls are house trained, well behaved in the home, able to be left for sensible periods and happy travelling in the car (when crated) They are both dog social, and dog introductions can be arranged. They have also been good with the Rescue’s resident cats, although confident, dog-savvy cats would be best as they may occasionally give chase. Daisy and Luna would make wonderful companion dogs for an older person or couple. They truly have so much love to give and are such lovely girls. Luna passed her veterinary check with flying colours, although she does require a dental procedure, the costs of which will be covered by the Rescue. Daisy also requires a dental procedure and, like Luna, the Rescue will cover the cost. During Daisy’s veterinary check, a Grade 4 heart murmur was discovered. Following a heart scan, she has been diagnosed with Mitral Valve Disease and will need lifelong medication (VetMedin). The medication costs approximately £50 per month. We know it is a big ask to adopt a bonded pair, especially with Daisy’s diagnosis, but these girls are so devoted to one another and truly deserve the chance to spend the rest of their lives together in a loving home. Once you meet them, you’ll immediately see the beautiful bond they share and what wonderful girls they are. About Daisy & Luna

What life with Daisy & Luna looks like

Daisy & Luna is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daisy & Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daisy & Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daisy & Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daisy & Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daisy & Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daisy & Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daisy & Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
