Adopt Daisy

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

During our visit in April 2026, we met the friendly Daisy and fell in love with her sweetness right away. She is agile without being overexcited, friendly to humans, cuddly, and safe to handle with animals of both sexes. In the group, she often takes on the role of the initiator. She can sometimes be a bit distant and demanding, but never in an unpleasant way – more like a dog who knows exactly what she wants and communicates it charmingly but firmly. Her open nature, curiosity, and social skills make her a female dog that one simply must have. At the same time, she brings a good dose of self-confidence, so we believe she will adapt well to new situations. Daisy was rescued from Ancsa by a lethal injection station. The female dog was picked up by a dog catcher and brought to the station. No one had been looking for her, and no one wanted to adopt her. At the animal shelter, Daisy shows herself to be a friendly, open, and lively female dog. She enjoys the free run very much, moves around happily, and plays exuberantly with her fellow animals. She is equally compatible with male dogs and female dogs and displays a socially stable behavior. Toward humans, Daisy is very open. She actively seeks proximity, is happy about attention, and accepts cuddles gratefully. So far, she has shown herself to be an uncomplicated and lovable female dog that seems ready to work with people. Daisy resembles a Border Collie in phenotype. She might bring a good dose of energy, intelligence, and learning enthusiasm with her and should be challenged both physically and mentally. Search games, small training sequences, and other joint activities would certainly bring her much joy. Daisy needs people who give her security with clear, loving guidance and lead her step by step into a balanced everyday life. Regular mental stimulation, but also quiet phases, stable structures, and a reliable environment support Daisy in settling in well, processing new stimuli appropriately, and developing into a relaxed companion. Daisy was tested negative for heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Lyme disease via Idexx Snap 4dx Test. Best placed with a resident dog (second-dog home).

About Daisy

What life with Daisy looks like

Daisy is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fellfreunde e.V. in Solingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellfreunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellfreunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellfreunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
