Adopt Daisy

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Since in Romania you almost daily come across homeless dogs, the shelter kennel would always have incoming animals. Due to limited resources, animal protectors have to think every day who needs help the most. Usually, the ones who get help are dogs with the worst chances of surviving on the streets: sick, injured or old dogs and puppies. In May 2021, Delia, who maintained the Care for Dogs' yard, got a call about a small puppy that was wandering the streets with its mother. Knowing that the small puppy wouldn't survive long among the dangers, Delia went to take the puppy to safety at the yard. Fortunately, the mother and probably this brother were also caught, so Daisy and Champ ended up in the shelter kennel. Daisy and Champ have always been shy, and therefore the chances of finding their own homes have decreased over the years. Especially strangers scare them, and although the pair often waits excitedly by the fence, they quickly hide when strangers arrive at the yard. However, over the years, they have gradually become more confident, and now they start to look at people after a short hesitation. Both are very affectionate and happily spin around even when strangers are nearby if there are treats available. With familiar people, they are much more confident. Champ easily rolls onto his back with familiar people to get scratches, and Daisy has even dared to be scratched by familiar people. Handling is still exciting for both. However, the presence of people clearly interests them a lot, and both are clearly excited when they get to play with people.

Käsittely on molempien mielestä edelleen jännittävää.

About Daisy

What life with Daisy looks like

Daisy is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
