adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Daisy and Donald, two dogs rescued from the public shelter in Zalau where they still kill, in a place where they must have experienced unimaginable suffering in their previous lives. Often, fearful dogs come into our care, but Daisy and Donald are pure fear. They won't let anyone touch them, growl when approached, and even snap. But compared to the fear they had when they arrived, they are already better. They come closer to get treats from us. A tiny step in the right direction. Perhaps they are beginning to understand that they are now in safety, but how are they to know that not all people are bad. Daisy is a beautiful female dog, estimated to be 43 cm in height and weighing around 14 kg. She gets along well with dogs, but, as expected, cats have not been tested with her. For Daisy, we are searching for the needle in the haystack. People with big hearts, lots of patience, and empathy who are willing to face the challenge of offering Daisy a happy future and finally bringing her to a smile. The road ahead will be long. Ideally, Daisy's people should be familiar with fearful dogs. Daisy likely has no life in a house, nor do they know what it means to have a safe and protected life. Housebreaking and dog 1×1 are probably also foreign to her. What Daisy needs is a low-stress environment with plenty of places to retreat. She should be allowed to set the pace at which she comes. Dogs are very adaptable, and we are sure that Daisy will learn to enjoy her life and become a wonderful companion over time. We would be truly delighted if there is that one person who falls in love with Daisy, the needle in the haystack. Before Daisy can embark on her great journey, she will first gradually get used to the collar and the leash.

About Daisy

What life with Daisy looks like

Daisy is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
