Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Lukas has been with us at the animal shelter for quite a while. He was born here at the shelter, as his mother came to us pregnant. Lukas is a curious rabbit. He gets along well with other rabbits, but he doesn't like everyone and makes that clear. The pretty rabbit with the black nose and black ears has also been to the "dentist" several times. He is not a classic "dental rabbit," but he unfortunately has had problems with an abscess in his jaw before. Because of this, his eyes also water every now and then ...... For Lukas, we wish for a lovely, species-appropriate home with plenty of space to hop around. Lukas currently lives in an enclosure with Hoppel, and the two could move into a new home together. The buck had contact with an EC rabbit; he shows no symptoms so far, but could be a "shedder." - male, neutered - born 14.04.2020

What life with Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ looks like

Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ is an adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierheim Amberg in Ursensollen.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Amberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a rabbit can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierheim Amberg what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a rabbit comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierheim Amberg directly what is included and what Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ still needs.
What happens if Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Amberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lukas mit der schwarzen Nas‘ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
