Dama de

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Mixed-breed Dama is looking for a loving home! Who has a heart for this little lady dog? Young Dama lives at our partner animal shelter in Spain. We know nothing about her past. At the shelter, it quickly became apparent that Dama has an unusual gait. When she walks, she occasionally lifts both front legs briefly, then continues walking normally afterward. This peculiar behavior could be due to a neurological issue. In terms of temperament, Dama is a shy little dog. However, she can be coaxed and even allowed to be touched. At the shelter, Dama shows herself to be social and compatible with other dogs. We hope that Dama will soon be able to leave the shelter and move to a foster home or a permanent forever home. There, all necessary medical examinations could be carried out. Dogs with disabilities especially have a hard time in shelters. We sincerely hope that caring people will come forward who will give Dama a chance at a happy life. Therefore, we are looking for a loving home for Dama—one where this shy little lady can settle in peace and quiet. Of course, Dama still has much to learn. She’ll need the positive guidance and support of her future family throughout this process. We’d like to find people who are willing to provide Dama with the required medical examinations. This sweet dog deserves the chance to live a fulfilling dog life and finally experience love and care. If you’re the right person for Dama and have a free spot waiting for her—a spot filled with lots of love and security—then we look forward to hearing from you. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on special responsibility and can also be quite challenging. These dogs carry a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new life. If you’re seriously interested in adopting Dama, please get in touch with the responsible adoption coordinator at SALVA Hundehilfe. We’d also be delighted if you could offer a foster home. You’ll find the contact details below. Here are the videos of Dama: Video 1, Video 2.

About Dama de

What life with Dama de looks like

Dama de is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dama de, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dama de?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dama de on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dama de if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dama de already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dama de isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dama de and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
