Kadee

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Our beautiful Kadee is waiting in 16259 Bad Freienwalde for a loving home. Breed: Mixed Birth (estimated): 2021 Height at the shoulder: 40 cm Neutered: yes Location: Foster home in 16259 Bad Freienwalde Origin: Animal shelter Bucov/Romania Compatibility with children: yes, from about 10 years old Compatibility with dogs: yes Compatibility with cats: yes Our beautiful Kadee is waiting for a loving home with a garden. With her enchanting ears and big round eyes, the little Kadee is waiting for people who can enchant her. We took this beautiful dog from the animal shelter Bucov (Romania). She came to our foster home with a large bite wound. It's a miracle that she survived this attack. We gave her time to heal, and this time really did her good. Her wound has healed now, although a large scar reminds of the experiences, but it won't do anything to her charm. The mouse was also able to process what happened to her psychologically. She is very sweet with her caregivers. She happily taps through the whole apartment when her foster mother comes home. She loves being stroked and loves the closeness to her people. With unknown people, she needs a few minutes of thawing time, but then she also likes to cuddle here. It's similar with dogs, too; she also needs some time to thaw here. We are looking for Kadee responsible, patient people who want to show her the good sides of life and lead her lovingly and consistently so that she can soon become a dog that enjoys life to the fullest. They should have a fenced garden where the mouse can arrive safely before the adventures start on a leash. She also likes going for walks, meeting dog friends and exploring the area when she first trusts her people. She has already learned so much and shows herself curious and engaged now. Her foster family is leading her lovingly in small doses to her new life so that soon she can become a dog who enjoys life to the fullest.

About Kadee

What life with Kadee looks like

Kadee is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Step by Paw e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kadee, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kadee?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Step by Paw e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kadee on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kadee if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Step by Paw e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kadee already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kadee isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Step by Paw e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kadee and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
