Adopt Damkina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Damkina has finally found a home! Her story: Baia Mare, Romania. Today, the charming Damkina wants to introduce herself. Damkina was with her siblings in a Romanian foster home. Unfortunately, they couldn't stay there and no requests came in, so Damkina is now housed in the public shelter in Baia Mare. This is not a good place for young dogs to grow up. We hope so much that the lovely Damkina will finally be seen and be able to travel to a loving family soon. Damkina is now approximately 2 years old. Although she spent her whole youth in the shelter, she is a very loving mouse who gets along well with her fellow animals and also greets people friendly. At first, she is a bit reserved, but she warms up after a while. She is of medium size, about 60 cm. Cats are unknown to Damkina and cannot be tested. Children should know responsible handling with dogs. We are looking for a home for the charming dog lady where she can arrive in peace. She needs people who don't expect anything from her at first and show her how a normal dog life works. Damkina still has to learn everything. Sometimes a little mishap shouldn't be held against her and she should always be accompanied with a positive reinforcement training style. The beautiful sugar mouse is already looking forward to many adventures with you and a visit to a dog training class would be really great to play around with other fur buddies and to learn dog 1×1 with you. This makes a lot of fun and strengthens the bond between human and dog. Damkina is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive review. Also, a foster home would be great for Damkina. Can Damkina become your lifelong companion? Thank you! Arsinoe E.! Thanks to you, Damkina has her beautiful name and thus a chance to find a family.

About Damkina

What life with Damkina looks like

Damkina is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Damkina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Damkina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Damkina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Damkina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Damkina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Damkina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Damkina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
