adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! There she stands—her ears attentively facing forward, her gaze curious and simultaneously cautious. Since August 2021, Dani has lived at our shelter. Many dogs have come and gone, but she still waits. She is a beautiful female dog with a quiet, deep gaze that immediately captures attention. Today, Dani is just shy of 6 years old. For almost her entire life, she has known only the shelter—and perhaps the street in front of it. A home, a safe everyday life, the feeling of truly belonging are still unknown to her. Therefore, it is crucial that her future people give her time, patience, and safety so that she can build trust step by step. At about 60–65 cm, Dani is a stately, impressive female dog. She gets along well with other dogs, seeks their company, and follows their lead. She has not yet encountered cats. Children should be older due to her size and sensitive nature and should already know how to handle dogs respectfully. Dani is curious and wants closeness—even though she may not always feel comfortable. She comes a little closer, sniffs, and observes. It seems as if she is saying, "I want to trust, just give me a little time." In a quiet, loving home, she will arrive, open up, and grow into a faithful companion. As a German Shepherd-Herdenschutzhund mix, Dani brings special qualities. She is attentive and vigilant, forming a close bond with her trusted people and needing clear, calm guidance as well as reliable structures. A rural home with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for her, so she can move freely and discover the world at her own pace. Dani loves nature—walks, new scents, and quiet explorations will bring her great joy. Also, mental stimulation like nose work or small search tasks can help her build self-confidence and gain security. Dani travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Dani

What life with Dani looks like

Dani is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dani, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dani?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dani on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dani if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dani already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dani isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dani and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
