Adopt Dani

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Gender: Female Size: shoulder height ca. 38 cm, 10 kg Dani and her foster family look forward to any support. she loves cuddle sessions. Our animal welfare friend Marcos from Almeria/Spain was approached by two brothers for help with their dogs. The two recently lost their father, after their mother had passed away six years ago. Now they are looking into an uncertain future, not knowing where they will live or who will take care of them. In this situation, it is impossible for them to adequately care for their two dogs. The male dog Rambo was already taken in by Marcos at the dog shelter a few weeks ago. The five-year-old female dog had been staying with a relative until the situation for the brothers improved. Unfortunately, the brothers also cannot adequately care for Dani in the future. So, they reluctantly gave the little female dog to Marcos to place her in the dog shelter, where he will find her a new family. We promised the two brothers that we would also find a loving home for Dani. So, in the spring of 2019, Dani traveled to Germany and moved into a foster home. Dani was very unsettled by the changed living situation. She grieves and is very attached to her foster mother, who provides her with the necessary security. She does not like to be left alone and cries when she no longer sees her primary caregiver… Her foster mother is working with her, and now she can already manage for about half an hour. Otherwise, she is a loving, affectionate female dog who gets along well with other dogs, although she is food-aggressive and should be fed separately. She especially loves children! Dani is an agile female dog who needs a lot of exercise.

About Dani

What life with Dani looks like

Dani is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. in Bad Vilbel.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dani, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dani?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dani on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dani if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dani already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dani isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dani and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
