Adopt Danny

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Help with the rehoming of the male dog Danny! Family update: Danny is a neutered Bracken mix male dog born on May 25, 2018. He weighs 20 kg and has a shoulder height of about 56 cm. He can sometimes be an insecure/sensitive guy who is very focused on his owners' feelings/emotions. Therefore, we wish for a relaxed environment, as well as a calm, experienced guiding hand. His family describes Danny as follows: Danny is a neutered male dog born on May 25, 2018. He loves taking naps indoors in his basket or lying on his cushion or sunbathing in the garden. He lets the indoor tigers (cats) go about their business and leaves them in peace. He grew up with our children and could move to a home with older children. He can stay at home alone and adapts to different schedules for his walks. He doesn't like meeting other dogs on the leash if the other dog owner doesn't approve; then he gets out of control. Avoiding such encounters early and saying no helps. Danny also needs permission to run free on the meadow without a leash and without constantly being close to his human. Chasing after a hare is something he can't quite resist, but he will stop and come back when called. Off-leash meetings with other dogs are initially a bit tense, but he is generally compatible. Otherwise, he is friendly and seeks playmates, but treats, toys, and digging holes are not shared with other animals. Danny needs longer walks; a short daily walk is not enough for him. Dog experience is definitely an advantage! In the dark, he keeps his distance from other animals and rather watches over his human. He is a sensitive and insecure social guy and needs a quieter environment with loving, consistent guidance without other pets. Danny is currently in Wüschheim and can be visited there. About Danny

What life with Danny looks like

Danny is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Danny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Danny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Danny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Danny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Danny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Danny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Euskirchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Danny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
