Henry

German Shepherd · Male · Adult · 6 years

Our Henry on a walk - Video Our Henry on a snuggling session - Video Our Henry is a very people-oriented and affectionate dog who quickly forms a close bond with his trusted people. Once he builds trust, he is open, friendly, and enjoys the shared time immensely—especially on long walks, which he looks forward to every time. On walks, he also likes to take small comfort breaks in between. During walks, Henry is a pleasant companion: he walks calmly and relaxed on the leash and shows overall even temperament. The orientation towards humans can still be further developed and is an important part of the joint training. Everyday distractions like joggers, cyclists, or other walkers do not bother him as long as they do not actively approach him. Encounters with other dogs go well when Henry is guided confidently. With clear leadership, he can be well controlled here. He already masters the basic commands, providing a good foundation for his further everyday life. Initially, Henry meets strangers with clear skepticism and tends to go forward. With clear and secure guidance, this behavior can be handled well. Given the necessary time for getting to know each other, he warms up and also shows his friendly side here. Henry knows how to wear a muzzle and handles it without problems. This is currently used as a meaningful management measure, especially in contact with strangers. In the home environment, Henry also shows itself very pleasantly: he is calm, friendly, and accepts set boundaries. He also masters car rides without stress or problems. In total, Henry is a wonderful dog who will bring a lot of joy to his person. With clear, reliable leadership and further training, he develops into a loyal, everyday companion who is convinced by his affectionate nature and close bond with his trusted people.

About Henry

What life with Henry looks like

Henry is a medium-sized adult german shepherd dog waiting at Kreistierheim Böblingen in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kreistierheim Böblingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kreistierheim Böblingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kreistierheim Böblingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
