DARK

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 3 years

DARK, a quiet and gentle companion, is looking for his forever home. DARK is a beautiful European cat with a calm and composed temperament. Behind his attentive gaze is a sensitive little cat who values respect for his space and his rhythm. DARK would be a good fit for people with a relatively active lifestyle who want to share their daily lives with a quiet companion. He loves human presence but is not particularly fond of long cuddle sessions. He prefers to choose his own moments of closeness and would benefit from being adopted by patient people who are willing to build a relationship based on trust. DARK can coexist harmoniously with children as long as they are calm and respectful. However, a household with very young children would not be suitable for him, as he values tranquility and tends to keep a low profile when the atmosphere becomes too lively. Regarding his compatibility with other animals, DARK is still in the observation period. Having recently arrived at the cattery, he remains discreet and reserved towards other cats. His reactions to dogs are not yet known. The type of housing that would best suit him remains to be determined, but a calm family or a patient adopter willing to give him time to adapt will undoubtedly be the key to his happiness. DARK may not be the cat who immediately asks for cuddles, but he will touch the hearts of those who appreciate independent, gentle, and authentic felines. With a little time and a lot of kindness, he could become a wonderful companion for life. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 523 44 16.

About DARK

What life with DARK looks like

DARK is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting DARK, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about DARK?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw DARK on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt DARK if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is DARK already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if DARK isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know DARK and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
