MOUSTY

European Shorthair · Female · Senior · 12 years

Abandoned: 03/18/2026 Breed: European Sex: Female Microchip: 967000009777118 Born: 05/25/2014 Country: Belgium At the shelter since: 03/18/2026 MOUSTY is an adorable European cat who has gone through tough times. Since her arrival at the shelter in 2015, she has been adopted several times without success. After the passing of her last owner in 2026, her world was once again turned upside down, and she had to relearn how to find her bearings. Today, she waits with gentleness and patience for a family that will be able to give her a new beginning. Her strengths: Very gentle and sensitive, she attaches deeply to her human once she feels at ease. Used to apartment life, she can live serenely in a quiet environment, as she showed during quarantine. Capable of being alone, even if she appreciates human presence. Her vulnerabilities: Stress related to her past can sometimes affect her cleanliness, but this improves significantly in a reassuring environment. She has not yet been tested with children, cats, or dogs, so this will have to be done carefully. The car ride makes her very uncomfortable, which will require patience and gentleness during travels. MOUSTY will thrive with adopters: calm, benevolent, and willing to offer a stable environment; living in an apartment or in a residence with secure outdoor access, without the need for a garden; capable of giving her the time to settle, regain confidence, and find her serenity; without young rambunctious children, or with respectful children. MOUSTY has a lot of love to give. She simply needs someone to extend a hand with patience and gentleness to reveal all her tenderness. If her story touches you, do not hesitate to contact us by phone. She deserves a beautiful meeting, perhaps with you. Adoption possible only with a "permit to keep an animal" if you reside in Wallonia. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 204 49 50.

About MOUSTY

What life with MOUSTY looks like

MOUSTY is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting MOUSTY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MOUSTY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MOUSTY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MOUSTY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MOUSTY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MOUSTY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know MOUSTY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
