How do I contact the shelter about Dax?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dax on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Dax if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Dax already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Dax isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dax and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Dax

Pit Bull Terrier · Male · Adult · 8 years

Dax was the dog of a young man who loved him dearly. They were together for years and years until his owner went astray and ended up in prison. Dax didn't understand anything, his owner never came home. He didn't understand, they had never been separated before. He obviously couldn't stay alone, so he was given to an acquaintance. However, this acquaintance didn't want to give the poor fellow a permanent safe haven and eventually threw him literally and figuratively on the street. Dax wandered around not far from the refuge until a couple brought him to us. Since then, Dax has been one of the many dumped dogs in our refuge. He is no longer a young dog, he has always been used to a warm home, a soft chair and bed, and now he is in a lonely cage. As a Stafford, it is already difficult to find a home, let alone a Staff of his age. But we keep hoping for a good chance for Dax! He is very sweet to people, a real cuddly bear! But the refuge is a hell for dogs who previously had a good home their whole lives.

NL·Show original

About Dax

What life with Dax looks like

Dax is a adult pit bull terrier dog waiting at ACE / SHIN (Animal Care Espana) in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.
