adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Deborah can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: Deborah has been in her foster home since late November. Deborah is an absolute ray of sunshine. The cheerful female dog has integrated into the family routine right away and has only brought joy. She is friendly to all people, loves to cuddle, and seeks closeness; she sleeps the whole night in her cozy dog bed with her people, is house-trained, goes problemlessly with a leash for walks, knows cats and children, in short: a wonderful family dog who simply wants to be loved. She can be carried up the stairs without any fuss. Deborah was previously in a private foster home in Romania and lived with her puppies among the homeless. It is especially heartening that she made it to a warm home before the winter. She lost her leg according to reports from an attack by dogs. The injuries were so severe that the leg had to be amputated. But Deborah is not hindered by this at all. Deborah is about 8 years old and about 55 cm tall. She is a very nice, reserved lady who gets along well with her fellow animals and is friendly to people. For Deborah, we are looking for loving, empathetic people who will take her in and give her care and lots of love for the rest of her life. We do not know the rest of her story; where did Deborah spend her first years, what has she experienced? Like all our dogs, she is an egg of surprise. With the right amount of patience, she shows herself to be a very grateful dog, and the bond grows stronger. Through thick and thin, in good times and bad. Deborah needs a quiet environment, an apartment with no stairs, where she does not have to climb many stairs with her three legs. Beautiful walks in nature, many many cuddle hours at home, will surely be enjoyed by Deborah. Deborah is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She will of course bring an EU pet passport with her after a positive adoption. Who will fall in love with the sweet Deborah? Many thanks to Gritt K.! You gave Deborah her name. A big thank you also goes to Alexandra A., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Deborah. As of: 05.01.

Stand: 05.01.2024

About Deborah

What life with Deborah looks like

Deborah is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Deborah, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Deborah?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Deborah on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Deborah if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Deborah already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Deborah isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Deborah and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
