adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Deenah has experienced a great deal of suffering in her previous life: locals had her ears and tail cut off, and later she ended up in a kill shelter. Fortunately, she was rescued in time and initially got to know safety, affection, and regular care in a foster home in Romania. Recently, she now lives in a foster home in Germany – and here she shows a side that no one expected. While she was still shy and cautious in Romania, she warms up surprisingly quickly in Germany. She has a big heart, especially for the foster home’s little daughter, and plays and romps joyfully with the other dogs in the household. Cats are mostly ignored by her; she only needs to be gently reminded that the food is not for her, which she quickly understands. She is a typical herding dog mix, bringing a certain independence and alertness, but she shows herself to be very trainable and readily accepts new rules. Currently, she is being trained to respond to German commands, and she is quickly understanding what is expected of her. With her shoulder height of about 66 cm and weight of around 40 kg, Deenah is a substantial female dog. She is estimated to be about 6 years old. Despite her difficult past, she is friendly, curious, and increasingly clingy. She enjoys cuddles once she has built trust. For Deenah, we wish to find dog-experienced people, ideally with experience in dealing with herding dog breeds or their typical characteristics. A rural home with a securely fenced yard would be ideal, so she can responsibly follow her alertness. Deenah is looking for a neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and with an EU pet passport new home.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Deenah

What life with Deenah looks like

Deenah is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Deenah, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Deenah?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Deenah on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Deenah if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Deenah already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Deenah isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Deenah and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
