Adopt Delphi

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Delphi is a spayed cat around 7 years old. This lady used to live on a farm but sought a lot of human contact, picking up and petting are a step too far but she likes to be nearby and we think that once she trusts you, she might like to be cuddled, but this will take time. She is very social towards other cats and a real cat lady, so we only place her together with another cat from the animal shelter or with another social cat. She doesn't like too much noise around her, we advise against a family with small children, older ones can be fine. Delphi sometimes has a cold, which is chronic, but it's not contagious to other cats and goes away on its own. She herself doesn't have much trouble with it. We are looking for a place where she can be who she is. With people who give her time and let her set the pace of what she wants and doesn't want. Those who don't mind if she never becomes a cuddle cat. If she gets used to it well, she would like to go outside in a quiet environment.

About Delphi

What life with Delphi looks like

Delphi is a small adult mixed breed animal waiting at Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem in Netherlands.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Delphi far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Delphi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Delphi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Delphi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Delphi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Delphi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Delphi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Delphi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
