Adopt Denzel

Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this animal now! Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this dog now! Denzel is still young, yet he already carries so much with him. Things a dog his age should not know: fear of closeness, uncertainty when touched, this cautious observation from a distance before he dares to take a step closer. He is one of three siblings who were rescued from a shelter in Lancrăm. A place where dogs have no chance after 14 days. They were pulled out in time, but what they experienced until then has left its marks. For months, they have been working with them. And Denzel is making progress. Small steps, but steadily. He stays where he would have fled before. He looks at people where he used to lower his gaze. He comes a little closer - and then decides to keep his distance. You can tell he wants to. But he doesn't yet know how. Denzel is not a dog who simply "works". He will need time. Patience. Understanding. And people who don't expect anything from him except that he is allowed to arrive at his own pace. Denzel is currently about 1 year old, 50 cm tall and weighs around 20 kg. He gets along with other dogs and relies on them, which gives him security. It is unknown if he knows cats. He doesn't know what it means to live in a home. Everything is new for him: noises, routines, closeness, touch. And precisely because of this, he needs people who have experience with insecure dogs and who can calmly and reliably show him that he no longer has to be afraid. Denzel is looking for a quiet home in a more rural area, without much hustle and stimuli. A securely fenced yard is important so that he can move freely without being overwhelmed. His humans should have experience with shy dogs and be willing to give him the time he needs. Denzel is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and treated for fleas and travels with an EU pet passport. After a positive foster home would also be very happy. Many thanks to his godmother Cornelia M., who gave him his name. Status: 13.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Denzel

What life with Denzel looks like

Denzel is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Denzel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Denzel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Denzel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Denzel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Denzel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Denzel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Denzel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
