Adopt Destiny

Female · Adult · 4 years

Filling out this form does not automatically mean that you can actually adopt this rabbit / these rabbits from us. * indicates required fields. Hello, my name is Destiny. I have been at a garden club for a long time and I liked it just fine. However, there were people who managed to catch me and they brought me to the animal shelter. I had to get used to it for a while, but fortunately the people there are very kind and they have a wide selection of food and treats for me. On February 2nd, I gave birth to 7 baby rabbits, unfortunately one of them didn't survive. But my 6 others Destiny's children are now big enough to be on their own and it's also time for me to take the next step. I am a strong and adventurous lady who knows what she wants. I like to explore, can jump very well and am always up for an adventure. In my new home, I would also like plenty of space to move, lots of challenges and a nice, neutered partner with whom I can go on an expedition. I also find people quite okay, but sometimes I look at them from the tree a bit first. Who is attracted by my beautiful blue eyes and can offer me everything my rabbit's heart desires?

Hoi, mijn naam is Destiny.

About Destiny

What life with Destiny looks like

Destiny is a large adult rabbit waiting at Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden in Leiden.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Destiny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Destiny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Destiny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Destiny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Destiny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Destiny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Destiny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
