Adopt Dhalia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

We may never know what Dhalia went through before she reached us. This brave girl came to us after being found in a wooden hut with her puppy. At first, we couldn’t get near her baby, Dhalia was incredibly protective, doing everything she could to keep her little one safe. Her puppy, now named Clover, has been weaned, and Dhalia is finally starting to relax. She is showing us who she really is, a gentle, sweet soul with a shy but loving nature. While she can be a little reserved at first with new people, once she feels safe, she blossoms into a friendly and affectionate girl. She’s playful and happy around other dogs, and enjoys her walks, even if she’s still a little cautious. We believe walking is something quite new to her, but she’s learning more every day. Dhalia is now ready to find a quiet, understanding home where she can continue to build her confidence and be cherished for the wonderful dog she is. Caixa ES40 2100 7071 4322

About Dhalia

What life with Dhalia looks like

Dhalia is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Live PAWS Tenerife in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dhalia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dhalia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Live PAWS Tenerife handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dhalia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dhalia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Live PAWS Tenerife will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dhalia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dhalia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Live PAWS Tenerife early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dhalia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
