Dia

Mixed Breed · Female · Baby

Dia is a small, lively and affectionate dog. She is compatible with other animals and can be left alone for a few hours. Dia is a little dog who was given shelter and food by a non-profit organization in Sânmartin, Romania. Unfortunately, she could not stay there permanently and SOS Dogs animal shelter in Sisterea was asked for help to prevent the little dog from being put back on the street. Dia was taken in by the shelter in July 2026. On August 8, 2026, she was allowed to leave the country through ITV Grenzenlos and was taken in by a family in Bergen. A nice home is now being sought for Dia. In her foster family, she was housebroken from the start and shows herself to be very people-oriented. She loves to cuddle, be stroked and likes to lie with her people on the sofa. She already knows children of all ages and gets along well with them. Only when eating should she be left alone and kept at a distance. This is understandable, as she had to defend her food on the streets in Romania. Dia loves to go for walks and runs super well on a leash. When encountering people and other dogs head-on, she reacts uncertainly, but this is being practiced and is getting better. In the garden, she wants to chase cats and chickens, but seems to tolerate the cats in the house. Dia loves to have people around her and is also suitable for beginners. She would probably also be suitable as an office dog, once she has settled in. The little dog could be placed with an individual or a family with children after an acclimatization period. She will become a faithful and loving companion after an acclimatization period. Dia was born in June 2024 and is just 40 cm tall. She is neutered, chipped and vaccinated. Before leaving, she received a blood test with a negative result. Please call ITV Grenzenlos if you would like to help the young dog: or . E-mail: Opens in new window. E-mail: Öffnet in neuem Fenster. About Dia

What life with Dia looks like

Dia is a puppy/kitten mixed breed animal waiting at Tierschutz Celle in Celle.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Dia far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Celle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Celle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Celle early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
