Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

🐾 Dido – on a foster home in Germany and searching for her Forever Home 🐾 📍 15859 Storkow, born November 2023, female dog, neutered, ca. 53–55 cm, ca. 23 kg. In January 2024, six tiny puppies were found in a freezing cold roadside ditch in Romania – alone, without their mother, huddled together to keep warm. 💔 A friend of our colleague Alina from the animal welfare organization ASIPA in Romania discovered these little souls and brought them to safety immediately. At ASIPA, they were medically treated and were able to rest in a loving foster home in Romania – finally warmth, food, and security instead of cold and fear. 🏡💛 One of these brave puppies is Dido – grown into a beautiful, sensitive female dog. Now, her life has changed further: ✨ Dido was able to travel to Germany and now lives on a loving foster home in 15859 Storkow. Here, she can arrive, build trust, and learn step by step how beautiful life as a family dog can be. 🐾 Dido is a friendly, playful, and curious female dog. She is outgoing, gentle in character, and loves the contact with people – she especially enjoys belly rubs. 💕 She shows herself to be well socialized and open to everything new. Dido can be rehomed with a household that has cats, but the cats should be accustomed to dogs. Now, all she needs is her own family. 🙏 For Dido, we are looking for people who can give her time, accompany her with love, and give her a safe home – with heart, patience, and a lot of love. The best part: 💫 Dido can be visited and met at her foster home in 15859 Storkow! Who will give this special female dog her great happiness? 🐾❤️ The Dido is fully vaccinated, microchipped, treated for parasites, and travels with an EU pet passport and TRACES papers. 🌐 www.tiernothilfe-ev.de Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e. About Dido

What life with Dido looks like

Dido is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dido, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dido?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dido on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dido if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dido already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dido isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dido and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
