Diezel

Rottweiler · Male · Adult · 6 years

I have been staying at the animal shelter for a while now. I came here as a foundling once. I have a nice friend who can play really fiercely, and I do like that. Although I am quite happy here, I am really looking forward to a new home. I am a young, lively and big guy. I love going on long walks with my owner or playing to my heart's content. In terms of character, I am really a mix of a Rottweiler and a Mechelse Herder. Yes, I do have some work drive, but I also have a certain need for structure. My new owner must recognize the value of this and also support me in it. I am therefore not a standard house, garden and kitchen dog. That is also not the kind of owner I am looking for. I really enjoy sniffing around. Not only that; I like everything that is done together with my owner. I get along well with female dogs and my size. I can be fierce when it comes to female dog. Diezel will not be placed in a house with children. Do you have the experience and the time to give Diezel these skills?

About Diezel

What life with Diezel looks like

Diezel is a adult rottweiler dog waiting at Dierenasiel Crailo in Hilversum.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Diezel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Diezel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Crailo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Diezel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Diezel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Crailo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Diezel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Diezel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Crailo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Diezel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
