Digby

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Digby is a neutered mixed-breed male dog born in September 2023, who was taken in as a puppy at Svilos Animal Shelter. His previous owners were not very happy with his talent for digging deep holes in the garden and wanted to get rid of the young boy. It is likely that Digby was not sufficiently occupied, which led him to start digging the pits out of boredom. Now the dog is chipped and vaccinated, making him ready to travel. He is just missing the right family to finally become happy! Digby is compatible with his fellow dogs. It is not known whether he has already met cats or other animals in his previous life and how he reacts to them. Now the dog is looking for caring, responsible people who want to give him a lot of love and attention, want to occupy and engage him accordingly, want to experience great adventures with him and want to enable him a wonderful dog life. The dog's shoulder height is 53 cm and he weighs about 18 kg. He is currently in Serbia at the animal shelter.

HU·Show original

About Digby

What life with Digby looks like

Digby is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Digby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Digby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Digby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Digby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Digby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Digby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Digby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
