Adopt Digger

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Digger, born in February 2020, neutered Digger came to us via the veterinary office and is classified as a dangerous dog in Rhineland-Palatinate based on his phenotype. Therefore, some conditions apply to the future owner regarding his care, which we would be happy to inform them about. Digger shows himself to us as an insecure dog. However, he is also the type that will growl and keep away what is unpleasant. For a dog like him, that is quite impressive. He has a truly unbridled strength and knows how to use it when it comes to getting from A to B. Leash training and orientation towards humans are still quite foreign to him. He is learning this very slowly. Digger is a dog who has not been limited by many boundaries and who has not been well acquainted with many things. We do not want to hide that he has attacked a small dog and severely injured it. For this reason, he cannot be rehomed with other dogs, cats, small animals, or families with children. Ball and hunting games should also be taboo for him in the future. We believe that these have certainly contributed to his behavior. Digger needs a clear structure and people who can present it to him calmly and matter-of-factly. Digger did not make himself and we believe that he deserves a fair chance. We know there are these knowledgeable and absolutely reliable people who we (and ourselves) trust to take on our Digger. If you are interested in our Digger, please contact us in writing with a return phone number. We would be happy to arrange a meet-and-greet. animal shelter Pirmasens -29 { margin: auto; } -29 -29 img { border: 2px solid; }

About Digger

What life with Digger looks like

Digger is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Pirmasens in Pirmasens.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Digger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Digger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Pirmasens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Digger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Digger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Pirmasens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Digger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Digger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Pirmasens early rather than rehoming privately; they know Digger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
